Autumn Term

During Term One, Year One were very busy learning all the routines of their new classroom. The children settled into their new classroom very quickly and were keen to explore it. They particularly enjoyed working in the role play area which was our superhero station. In there the children wrote notes and drew pictures for the superheroes, wrote lists and retold stories using superhero puppets.

In maths the children were counting and recognising numbers. They were reading, making and writing numbers with lots of practical and different equipment. We then moved on to comparing numbers, recognising the smallest and largest number.

We celebrated our ‘Love Books’ week and for this we focused our literacy on 'Funny Bones'. The children enjoyed all the different Funny Bones stories that we read and listened to. We even had some children come in as Funny Bones! We chose characters to describe from the books and we worked hard to retell the Funny Bones stories.
